Major Introduction |
The predecessor of the Communication Engineering major of Hebei University of Technology was the Radio Electronics Department of Hebei Institute of Technology in the 1960s. After decades of accumulation, it has become a provincial brand specialty in Hebei, as well as a highland of innovation in undergraduate education in higher education institutions in Hebei Province. In 2018, it passed the engineering education certification of the Ministry of Education, and in 2019, it was selected as a first-class undergraduate construction major in Hebei Province. Over the years, the Communication Engineering major has adhered to the school motto of "Diligence, Prudence, Publicity and Loyalty", insisted on the mission of serving the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei communication industry, based on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, radiating the whole country and facing the world, and strived to build itself into an important base of training talents and knowledge innovation of national communication majors, an important support for the development of the communication industry of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and an important engine for the development of communication education in Hebei and even in the whole country. |
Training Objectives |
This major cultivates high-quality specialists with good morals and cultivation, strong sense of social responsibility, good humanistic literacy and solid foundation in natural sciences, mastery of professional knowledge in communication technology, communication networks and systems, signal and information processing, and strong engineering practice ability, who are capable of engaging in scientific research, engineering design, system operation, technological development, project management and other work in communication engineering and related fields. Specific goals that students are expected to achieve approximately five years after graduation are listed below: (1) Possess good professional ethics, personal cultivation and international vision, abide by the law, have a sense of social responsibility, career, safety and environmental protection in their work, and be able to actively serve the country and society; (2) Competitive advantages in communication technology, communication networks and systems, signal and information processing, etc., and the ability to engage in scientific research, engineering design, system operation, technology development, project management, etc., in this specialty and with related cross disciplines; (3) To be able to update their knowledge and enhance their abilities through continuing education or other lifelong learning channels, to further strengthen their sense of innovation and pioneering spirit, and to apply them in their practical work. |
Curriculum Plan |
The knowledge system of the communication engineering major includes general education category, basic knowledge of disciplines, specialized knowledge, and practical teaching. General education credits account for about 40% of the total credits. It mainly includes: credits of ideological and political education and humanities and social sciences courses, credits of mathematics and natural sciences courses, credits of economics and management courses, credits of foreign language courses, credits of computer information technology courses, credits of innovation and entrepreneurship courses and credits of physical education courses. Professional education credits account for about 50% of the total credits, of which basic and specialized courses in the disciplines account for about 30% of the total credits. Comprehensive education credits account for about 10% of the total credits. It mainly includes: psychological and health education, academic, scientific, technological and entrepreneurial activities, cultural and sports activities, inter-disciplinary elective courses, social practice and self-selected activities. The proportion of practical and hands-on training teaching credits (including course laboratory conversion credits) in the total credits should not be less than 25%. The practice sessions of the professional category should be able to reflect the cultivation of the ability to carry out product development and design, technological transformation and innovation and entrepreneurship, engineering design and analysis, and solving practical engineering problems in the field of electronic information. |
Faculty Resources |
Communication Engineering is a national first-class professional construction site, with 23 full-time teachers, including 5 professors (22%), 15 associate professors (65%) and 3 lecturers (13%). Among them, there are 22 faculty members with doctoral degrees, 9 faculty members with overseas study experience, 4 Yuan Guang scholars, 7 doctoral supervisors, and 22 master's supervisors. The teaching force has a reasonable structure in terms of academic background, age and title, and the overall quality level is high. Teachers focus on teaching, with five national first-class courses, one innovative and entrepreneurial teaching master in Hebei Province, and many times won the Hebei Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. In terms of scientific research, the faculty members of Communication Engineering have undertaken many national and provincial scientific research projects, published many high-level SCI papers, and achieved a number of international and domestic leading scientific research results. |
Employment Prospects |
Communication engineering technology, is one of the mainstream technology in today's information age, communication engineering combines the characteristics of both electronic and computer disciplines, with modern acoustic, optical and electrical technology as the hardware basis, supplemented by the corresponding software and network to achieve the purpose of information exchange. Communication engineering has become popular and is basically one of the majors in which major colleges and universities are admitting scores. The Communications Engineering program has a promising future. With the continuous development of 5G, 6G and other communication technologies, the demand for communication engineering professionals will continue to increase. At the same time, the development of data analysis, cloud computing, Internet of Things and other fields also put forward higher requirements for communication engineering professionals, providing more employment opportunities for communication engineering graduates. Moreover, the technical and practical nature of communication engineering majors also makes graduates more competitive in the job market. |
